Equal education in the age of AI.

Every child deserves a great teacher.

EqualEd AI is building personal learning experiences that understand what a student knows, teach what they need next and help them use it in the real world.

Founded by Aryan Shekar. Built to help students think—not simply collect answers.

The opportunity

Talent is everywhere. Educational opportunity isn’t.

A child’s educational opportunities are still shaped by geography, family income, school resources and access to tutoring.

AI creates a chance to make careful explanation, timely feedback and meaningful practice available at a radically lower cost—if it is built around learning rather than answer generation.

The EqualEd idea

What if exceptional personalised teaching could reach everyone?

EqualEd AI is building a learning platform that finds what a student needs next, teaches it personally, lets them apply it and checks that the learning lasts.

Why EqualEd exists

NearlyTeacher.ai

Meet NearlyTeacher.

A personal AI teaching companion that learns from how you solve—not just what you ask.

  • 01
    Find the gap

Look behind an incorrect answer for the concept or misconception that matters.

  • 02
    Ask before telling

Use questions and progressive hints so the learner stays active.

  • 03
    Check what lasts

Return later with a fresh problem and test independent understanding.

I don't understand why x² = 25 gives two answers.

NearlyTeacher

Let's reason it through. What number multiplied by itself gives 25?

A different objective

Not an answer machine.

A fast answer can end the question without building the understanding. EqualEd is designed around the longer path that helps a learner solve the next problem alone.

QuidQuest

Learning shouldn’t stop at understanding.

Put knowledge to work through decisions, simulations and real-world missions. These cards show the kinds of experiences EqualEd is designed to enable; they are not claims of released content.

One shared learning journey

Teach the idea. Use it. Learn what comes next.

NearlyTeacher and QuidQuest are not separate islands. They are designed to share one careful, evolving picture of learning.

The learning loop

Learn → Understand → Apply → Master

One shared learner model connects what was taught, how much help was needed, whether the idea transferred and what should come next.

NearlyTeacher finds the missing idea.

02

03

A fresh, delayed check tests independence.

Personalisation with a purpose

One curriculum. Millions of learning paths.

Every student reaches an idea with different prior knowledge. EqualEd is designed to build a careful, changing picture from attempts, explanations, help used and delayed checks—not from fixed “learning style” labels.

The learner can see why something is recommended and challenge what the system thinks it knows.

The north star

Retained Independent Mastery.

Not screen time. Not questions asked. Not chatbot conversations.

EqualEd’s most important question is whether the learner understood the concept, can solve it without substantial help and can still do it later on a different problem.

RIM

A concept demonstrated independently and retained on a delayed check.

AI + teachers

Built to strengthen teachers, not replace them.

EqualEd’s future teacher experience is intended to make learning evidence useful: reveal a shared misconception, identify where a fresh challenge is needed and show whether an intervention worked.

Teachers remain in control. No opaque ability scores, predicted grades or surveillance dashboards.

One useful question for a family conversation.

For parents

Know what your child understands—not just how long they studied.

A future parent view should explain meaningful progress, one current challenge and one useful way to support a conversation—without exposing private chats or turning learning into surveillance.

  • Learning evidence in plain language
  • No behavioural advertising
  • No sale of student data

Safety by design

Children deserve technology built in their best interests.

EqualEd is being designed with leading child-safety, privacy and responsible-AI principles in mind. Formal legal and assurance work must be completed before public child registration opens.

Read our safety approach
01

Age-appropriate by default

Interaction, language, permissions and escalation should reflect the learner’s age and context—not rely on one generic chatbot policy.

02

Minimum necessary data

Collect only what a defined learning, safety or operational purpose requires. A learner’s work is not a free training corpus.

03

Grounded, controlled teaching

Use approved curriculum material, bounded teaching moves and verification. When the system cannot establish an answer, it should say so.

Founded from a student’s perspective

Founded by Aryan Shekar.

Students experience education every day. They should also have a voice in imagining what education could become.

“If AI can give one child access to extraordinary personalised education, why shouldn’t it give that opportunity to every child?”

The long-term vision

Imagine one great teacher for every learner.

A learning system that can eventually understand what a student knows, what they have forgotten, where a misconception began, which challenge will make an idea useful and what should come next.

Opportunityfor every learner
